Service Assistant (Part Time)
About Acre Gourmet:
Since 2004, Acre has been providing dietitian-approved, scratch-cooked, healthy lunches to San Francisco schools using only the best ingredients. As a small, local, minority and woman owned company with authentic sustainability values, Acre consciously integrates sustainability and nutrition principles into the dining culture by familiarizing eaters with local farms, seasonality, nutrient-rich eating practices, and demonstrating zero-waste efforts. Our team works on site together to serve over 1,500 delicious, organic meals daily. It's gratifying work to serve our students and educators nutritious and delicious meals each day.
Job Purpose/Objective:
The Service Assistant will serve our youngest eaters during our very busy lunch service during the daily Acre Real School Lunch Program on-site each day service is provided. We are looking for a service assistant who enjoys food service and working with young children. You will report to the operations manager to ensure that our elementary students have all that they need during daily lunch service. This is a part-time role and ideal for someone looking for work during typical daytime school hours.

Essential Job Functions:
Help prepare and set up the serving stations at one of Acre's San Francisco locations for the Acre daily lunch program Foster a positive and welcoming atmosphere during school lunch service Review menu labels to ensure correct allergens Orchestrate the service during the lunch period, monitor daily lunch menu items, replenish as needed and prevent shortages Assist with serving meals to the students in a courteous and efficient manner Assist in maintaining clean and organized serving at all times
Other Duties:
Follow company guidelines when health inspections occur to ensure a positive and productive work environment during an inspection Attend at least one company-provided food safety training session per year. Participate in the annual review given by management Participate in 1 food safety training sessions per year given by management Other duties as assigned Working Conditions/Job Environment Use of commercial kitchen equipment in a high-volume setting. Ability to stand for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years service experience, preferably in food and beverage or hospitality industry High School diploma required; college in culinary arts, food service, hospitality or related field preferred. Excellent English language, with interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Possess or obtain (within 90 days of hire) a Food Safety Certification. Maintain proper understanding of food allergies, adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, and follow proper procedures for handling and storing food Very reliable and able to maintain professionalism while interacting with parents, students, management, faculty and staff at the schools Must be comfortable around and serving young children Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced work environment and maintain a professional atmosphere Adhere to company dress code and grooming standards Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds

Compensation and Benefits :
