PRIMARY FUNCTION
: In cooperation with the management team, to be responsible for leadership and management of the kitchen, in terms of supervising employees, equipment, food quality and record keeping. Participates in food preparation in any area, serving of food, setting up counters, cashiering, and clean-up of kitchen facilities and service areas. In the event the Field Operations Manager is absent the Lead Worker should be able to accept responsibility for all ordering: milk, breads, produce, etc.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
: Has the responsibility to make available to each student breakfast and lunch according to district menus or management. Responsible for completing daily production records and completing them electronically in Heath-e Menu Planner. Responsible for all kitchen equipment, as required. Maintains quality and quantity control through use of district recipes & HACCP. Maintains accurate daily production records and time sheets. Receives, issues, and stores food and supplies, sign delivery slips and invoices as directed by the Manager. Coordinates overflow of work from kitchen and delegates tasks to employees. Ensures that employee work is completed accurately and on time. Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as needed or as Cafeteria Manager may assign. Willingness to learn programs such as PCS, Food and Paper Ordering systems, etc. in the event of the absence of the Cafeteria Manager. Must have working knowledge of current point of sale program, including day end procedure. Works cooperatively with everyone and follow instructions. Displays to students, faculty, staff, and co-workers an attitude of accommodation and cooperation. Maintains accurate daily records of meals, milk, a la carte, bank deposits and all other required records.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
: Hourly as needed. Salary and benefits in accordance with negotiated agreement.
QUALIFICATIONS
ServSafe Certification. Previous experience as a General Worker, Cook or Lead Worker. Preferred experience working in a self
  • directed one-person kitchen.
Experience working with special diets preferred. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and take initiative. Have knowledge of the meal pattern requirements as specified by USDA Child Nutrition Program. The ability to work cooperatively with others, work in a fast paced food service environment and the ability to learn new skills as related to job duties. Ability to manage multiple priorities, to communicate effectively with students and staff, deal with stressful situations, remain calm in emergencies and demonstrate good organizational skills. Physical demands include the ability to withstand having hands in water and detergents. Must be able to tolerate extremes in temperature. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand on cement floor for extended period. Maintain accurate HACCP requirements according to district program including, but not limited to, food and equipment temperature logs, food dates and labels, safe food handling procedures, following FIFO method of storage and utilization. Completion of Unit Classes 1 through 4 or willingness to complete as soon as possible. Previous experience with and working knowledge of the current point of sale software. Demonstrated good attendance record (school or employment).

GED High School Diploma
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Evaluation Procedure of the District.
