POSITION GOAL
To prepare and serve quality meals to students of Volusia County Schools
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
- Wash, peel, and prepare fruits and vegetables for salads and cooking; clean and prepare meat items; prepare coffee, tea, and other beverages; make salads, sandwiches, entrées, vegetables, side dishes, and soups as assigned, maintaining proper sanitation records. 2.
- Prepare and bake bread, rolls, cookies, cakes, and desserts as assigned, maintaining proper sanitation records. 3.
- Set up trays, steam tables, and food carts; serve food on cafeteria line, including set up for special luncheons and dinners. 4.
- Scrape trays, wash dishes, pots, and pans; empty refuse, clean kitchen floor area and dining room tables, clean stoves, ovens, steam table, food carts, windows, doors, walls, fans, filters, bathrooms, refrigerators and other equipment; help maintain clean storage area and stored food in proper condition. 5.
- Maintain equipment in proper and sanitary working condition. 6.
- Check in and put away stock items in storeroom, coolers, and freezers, maintaining proper inventory and sanitation records. 7.
- Correctly operate kitchen equipment, abiding by safety rules and standards. 8.
- Work as part of a team without close supervision. 9.
- Operate computerized cash register and complete related bookkeeping tasks as assigned. 10.
- Operate kitchen equipment in a proper and safe manner. 11.
- Use basic math skills necessary for preparation and adaptation of recipes and reporting systems. 12.
- Use effective positive interpersonal communication, maintaining composure under stress. 13.
- Work as a member of a team to insure that standards of performance are maintained, the objectives of the program are achieved, and the goals of the district are met. 14.
- Wear designated uniform and appropriate shoes. 15.
- Perform various duties by climbing, stairs and/ or ramps.
16. Perform other related duties as assigned by the district office, Manager - School Way Cafe or designee.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent preferred, or demonstrate ability to read and write at a functional level by successful completion of Volusia County Schools Level 1 skills assessment Successful completion of the following course during the first year of employment: Foundations, an Introduction to Volusia School Way Café and ServSafe Essentials certification Satellite Delivery Only - Possess a valid Florida or state-issued Driver's License, if not, agree to acquire a Florida Driver's License within thirty days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required

Ability to work harmoniously with students and adults and to provide friendly service Ability to work efficiently and effectively at a fast pace Ability to perform math skills necessary for preparation of recipes (for example, measurement, ratio and proportion, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction and counting ability necessary for inventory and reporting) Ability to work in a high heat/humidity environment; ability to work in cool/ cold areas for short periods of time Ability to work and communicate in a noisy environment Ability to learn to operate food service equipment and machinery and use appropriate chemicals safely Ability to follow instructions and skill in performance of routine duties involving preparation, cleanup, serving of food and record keeping Communication skills needed for reading and understanding labels and cordial interaction with students and adults
