About The Role As a Kitchen Steward at White Sands Hotel in Honolulu, HI, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dishwashing areas to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations. Your efforts will directly contribute to the overall guest experience by supporting the culinary team with timely cleaning and sanitation of dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment. You will be responsible for adhering to health and safety standards, ensuring that all kitchen areas meet regulatory requirements and internal policies. This role requires a proactive approach to managing waste, restocking supplies, and assisting with general kitchen maintenance tasks. Ultimately, your work will help create a safe, clean, and efficient environment that allows the kitchen team to focus on delivering exceptional food and service to our guests. Minimum Qualifications Previous experience in a kitchen steward or similar role preferred but not required. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks including lifting and moving heavy items. Basic understanding of sanitation and safety standards in a commercial kitchen environment. Strong work ethic with reliability and punctuality. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a high-volume restaurant or hospitality environment. Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment and cleaning chemicals. Certification in food safety or sanitation (e.g., ServSafe) is a plus. Ability to communicate effectively in English and/or additional languages. Demonstrated teamwork skills and a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Wash, clean, and sanitize all dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils promptly and efficiently. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, dishwashing stations, and storage areas throughout the shift. Dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables according to established procedures and maintain waste areas in a clean and orderly manner. Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks and restock kitchen supplies as needed to support smooth operations. Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines to ensure compliance with local regulations and company standards. Report any maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions to the kitchen management team promptly. Collaborate with other kitchen and service team members to ensure timely and efficient workflow. Skills The required skills for this role include attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization, which are essential for ensuring a safe and efficient kitchen environment. Physical stamina and manual dexterity are used daily to handle washing, cleaning, and moving kitchen items quickly and safely. Communication skills help in coordinating with kitchen staff and reporting issues to management, ensuring smooth operations.
