Lead Kitchen Manager Meals From The Heart Café — New Orleans, LA (French Market) $40,000-$50,000 + Performance Bonus ⸻ About Us Meals From The Heart Café has served the historic French Market since 2006. We are a family-owned café known for heart-healthy New Orleans cuisine, including vegan, gluten-free, and traditional options. We serve a high-volume mix of locals and tourists and take pride in consistency, hospitality, and accommodating a wide range of dietary needs without sacrificing flavor. As the business continues to grow, we are looking for a strong kitchen leader who can help improve systems, strengthen daily operations, and grow with the company long-term. ⸻ The Role We are looking for a hands-on Lead Kitchen Manager to work directly alongside our kitchen team, enforce operational standards, and help strengthen the systems that move the café forward. This is a working leadership role rather than a stand in the corner management role . You will be on the line, involved in prep, helping lead service, and responsible for maintaining standards when ownership is not on site. As a small café, flexibility is essential. While this role is kitchen-focused, you must be willing and able to step into front-of-house service or bar coverage when needed to keep the operation running smoothly. This role can grow in both responsibility and compensation if the cafe itself continues to grow and expand. ⸻ Responsibilities Manage daily kitchen operations during your shift Hold the team accountable to food quality, consistency, and speed Develop and enforce SOPs, prep standards, and opening/closing procedures Monitor food cost, reduce waste, and maintain portion standards Train and elevate kitchen staff Maintain a clean, organized, and health-code-compliant kitchen Communicate effectively with FOH and ownership to maintain smooth service flow Help improve prep efficiency, kitchen organization, and ticket execution Lead by example during service, prep, and close Assist with scheduling, inventory, and ordering as needed ⸻ What We're Looking For 3+ years in a high-volume, structured kitchen environment Proven supervisory experience with strong accountability standards Familiarity with vegan, gluten-free, or health-conscious cuisine is a strong plus Ability to earn respect by presence and example, not just title Systems-minded — able to build process and follow it consistently Mature, punctual, dependable, and organized Comfortable in a fast-paced, tourist-volume environment Comfortable leading in a small-team, high-accountability setting ⸻ Compensation & Growth $40,000-$50,000 base salary commensurate with experience Performance bonus tied to operational and business goals Opportunity for long-term growth and increased responsibility ⸻ To Apply Tell us briefly why this role fits where you are in your career and what interests you about leading in a small, growing operation.
