SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Kitchen Assistant performs a variety of tasks related to food preparation, service, and sanitation. Responsibilities include preparing hot and cold menu items, assisting with bakery or salad items, maintaining cleanliness of work areas and equipment, and ensuring proper food handling procedures are followed. This role may also involve setting up food service stations, serving food, and handling cashiering duties.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up food service stations, kitchen areas, and/or salad preparation areas according to specific operational needs and instructions. Ensure proper equipment and utensils are available and functional. Transport food and supplies from the main kitchen or preparation area to designated serving locations using carts or by hand. Prepare or assist in the preparation of various food items including hot and cold dishes, sandwiches, salads, simple baked goods, beverages, and condiments. Serve food to customers from counters or steam tables, ensuring correct portions and adherence to safety and service standards. Restock food items, utensils, dishes, trays, and condiments at serving areas as needed to maintain continuous service. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, including floors, counters, utensils, pots, pans, and equipment. Dispose of trash and recyclables properly. Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
At least two (2) year of experience in food service or a related field.2 Must be able to pass MA CORI and Drug Testing requirements Demonstrated understanding of, and committed to adhering to, federal and state policies (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA) Candidates with lived SUD expertise are encouraged to apply, if in recovery, must have two years of continuous sobriety Personal characteristics of understanding, dedication, empathy and genuineness are essential. Basic knowledge of food service operations, including temperature and sanitation standards. Ability to read, write, and follow both written and verbal instructions. Understanding of food safety procedures and cleaning protocols. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and stand for extended periods. Familiarity with inventory and supply ordering is a plus. Must be able to safely operate cleaning and kitchen equipment. Safe Serve Certification or ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire.
