Qualified candidates must be available to work any of the below shifts: Monday- Friday 12 p.m.- 8 p.m. Saturday 7 a.m.-3 p.m. or 12 p.m.- 8 p.m. Sunday 7 a.m.-3 p.m. or 12 p.m.- 8 p.m. Cook Job description Under limited supervision, the Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will ensure that all food preparation and kitchen operations are carried out in a food-safe and sanitary manner, contributing to a clean, efficient, and welcoming kitchen and cafeteria environment. Essential Functions Prepares, cooks, and serves CACFP approved meals. Assists with food supply inventories and stock. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, food preparation areas, and cafeteria. Follow all food safety and hygiene standards, including proper food storage, labeling, and temperature control. Clean and organize the walk-in freezer twice weekly. Prepare, cook, and serve for 100 - 125 people. Partner with volunteer groups that come to serve. Serve food in a timely, safe, and professional manner. Monitor inventory and notify supervisor of supply needs. Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment and utensils after use. Adhere to organizational policies, health regulations, and safety procedures. Maintain respectful and professional communication with staff, clients, vendors, and visitors. Essential Competencies Computer and basic software skills (MS Office, email) Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Problem Solving/Analysis Communication Proficiency • Ethical Conduct • Customer Service Oriented Qualifications Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. High school diploma or equivalent Minimum three years prior kitchen experience ServSafe Certification is a plus but not required. Experience with CACFP is a plus. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills Understanding of cooking measurements and portion sizes Employment Type Hourly, full-Time Salary $18.00 per hour Work Environment This job operates in a customer service labor-oriented environment. This role is performed in a commercial kitchen environment. Exposure to heat, cold, and cleaning chemicals. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly standing, bending, and, lifting at least 50lbs. Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Must be available to work flexible hours including some weekends, covering shifts, and holidays, as needed. The kitchen operates 7 days a week.
