Job Description
Job Summary Looking for a kitchen assistant to handle heating, cooking (in the oven), and replenishing finger food (such as chips, popcorn, previously frozen appetizers from Trader Joe's), cut and plate birthday cake, and generally keep an eye on a small kitchen, for a Birthday Party on the UWS of New York City, with about 50 guests. Duties Assist with food preparation and plating (such as heating previously frozen finger food in the oven and/or microwave, replenishing snacks such as chips, popcorn, etc., cutting and plating birthday cake) Handle ingredients and kitchen appliances with care, ensuring proper storage, cleanliness, and food safety compliance Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment to uphold hygiene standards Help with food handling during service period, including plating and serving dishes efficiently Qualifications Basic knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen appliances (oven, microwave, stove) and food preparation processes, personally or professionally A personal care for cleanliness and organization skills to efficiently handle kitchen duties throughout the evening A good sense of multitasking, for the purpose of being able to carry out multiple duties in a small kitchen, at the same time Willingness to follow instructions carefully and cultivate an environment of mutual respect
