Historic Portland TavernOne of Portlands oldest and most classic taverns is looking for a Kitchen Lead to join our small, hardworking team.
Our menu is rooted in classic Northern European meat and potatoes comfort food. We do not change the menu often, but we love a good special and welcome creativity from the right person. We are looking for someone who enjoys contributing ideas while respecting and maintaining what already works.
Our ideal is someone with strong kitchen experience and leadership skills who can help maintain standards, support their coworkers, and be a steady presence in our kitchen. This is not a traditional management position you will not be responsible for hiring, firing, or creating schedules. Instead, you will be the person the team can rely on for questions about procedures, expectations, and kitchen standards.
This position is considered full-time at our pub and is typically 4 days per week with 3 consecutive days off, averaging approximately 30
There are often opportunities to pick up additional shifts or take on extra projects if you are interested in additional hours, including organization projects, bulk prep, cleaning projects, improving systems, and helping keep the kitchen running smoothly. .

Last-minute schedule changes can be challenging with a small crew, we are looking for someone who takes pride in being dependable and showing up for their coworkers. At the same time, we work hard to support work-life balance. With enough notice, we make every effort to accommodate vacations and important life events.
RequirementsMinimum of 4 years experience working the line in a busy kitchenStrong organizational skills and attention to detailReliable timekeeping and accurate clock-in/clock-out habitsAbility to stand and move for 8 10 hour shiftsAbility to bend, lift, and perform physical kitchen tasks throughout the shiftAbility to lift a minimum of 50 lbsComfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and composureStrong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a small teamCompensation Dependent on experience ranging from $23
- $27 per hr + TIPSDuring our slower season, kitchen tip shares typically range from $60 to around $100 per shift. During the fall and winter, most shifts typically range from approximately $80
- $120 depending on business levels.
