Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking to grow our kitchen crew at our location in the Pearl District, Portland. Our cafe focuses on serving quality and convenient breakfast items all day: breakfast sandwiches, toasts, bowls, burritos, bagels and more! The Sisters Pearl crew is a dedicated and high-energy team that works closely together.

The back-of-house team at this cafe is responsible for working the line and daily food prep. All team members share the responsibility for dishes and keeping a clean and organized workspace.

We are seeking a part-time prep cook/breakfast cook to help our current team meet the demands of our high volume kitchen
  • availability daily between 6am
  • 4pm and on weekends is important. This position is scheduled for approximately 20 hours/week over 3-4 days and will include both prep work and line coverage. No evening or late night shifts! KEY RESPONSIBILITIESFood Quality and PreparationAs Prep
  • Work to ensure all components are prepped and maintained to keep the line ready for service: station mise, pre/par-cooked items, finishing and wrapping cookies and bars, dishes, mopping, etc. As Line
  • Consistently prepare and serve high-quality, to-go food to order with fast turn-around using induction burners, convection ovens and high-speed Turbo Chef food ovens.
Willingness to take on any tasks necessary in the daily kitchen flow Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentAble to work 4-9 hour shifts while standing or walking for extended periods of time.

Able to work a flexible schedule
  • typical shifts are between 6am and 4pm
  • including mornings, weekends (required), and holidays.
Recurring weekly schedule is typical. Able to grasp, lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed.

Able to maneuver effectively at both high (step stools/ladders) and low levels around the kitchen, restaurant, office, and up/downstairs.

RequirementsAt least 1-2 years of work or hands-on school experience in a commercial kitchen (line experience is helpful but not required)Valid Oregon Food handlers card or ServSafe certification within 30 days of hireWillingness to work both week and weekend days with shifts scheduled between 6am and 4pm. Must be willing to work afternoons AND Sundays to be considered.
