Position Overview
Kitchen Utility Workers support food service and catering operations at stadiums, arenas, convention centers, event venues, and hospitality facilities. This position plays a critical role in maintaining clean, organized, and efficient kitchen operations by assisting with dishwashing, sanitation, inventory movement, and general kitchen maintenance. The ideal candidate is team-oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and committed to maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Wash, rinse, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen workstations, food preparation areas, storage rooms, and service areas.
Sweep, mop, and sanitize floors throughout kitchen and food service areas.
Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste according to company procedures.
Assist with receiving, unloading, and storing food products, supplies, and equipment.
Transport food products, supplies, and equipment throughout the facility.
Restock kitchen supplies, utensils, serving equipment, and food service items.
Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment including sinks, prep tables, ovens, refrigerators, and storage areas.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
Properly handle cleaning chemicals and sanitation products according to safety guidelines.
Maintain organized storage areas and rotate inventory as directed.
Support event setup, service, and breakdown activities.
Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance issues, or safety concerns to supervisors.
Work cooperatively with kitchen staff, catering teams, and management.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have a valid ID to enter event venue.
Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
Ability to pass required background screening.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous kitchen utility, dishwasher, food service, catering, hospitality, restaurant, or janitorial experience.
Food Handler Certification a plus but not required.
Experience working in commercial kitchens, catering operations, stadiums, arenas, hotels, or convention centers.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Experience using commercial dishwashing equipment and cleaning systems.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Experience supporting high-volume food service operations.
Work Environment
Work is performed in commercial kitchens, catering facilities, stadiums, arenas, convention centers, restaurants, and event venues.
Environment may include exposure to heat, steam, water, food products, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures.
Fast-paced environment during event service and peak meal periods.
Frequent interaction with kitchen staff, chefs, food service personnel, and management.
Work may involve evenings, weekends, holidays, overnight shifts, and extended hours during large events.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to stand and walk continuously for extended periods, often 6-12 hours per shift.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
Ability to work in hot, humid, wet, and fast-paced kitchen environments.
Ability to safely operate dishwashing equipment and cleaning tools.
Ability to transport food products, supplies, and equipment throughout the facility.
Ability to maintain physical stamina during high-volume service periods.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Ability to follow detailed sanitation and food safety procedures.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail during repetitive tasks.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and event demands.
Ability to maintain professionalism and a positive attitude throughout the shift.
