This role is ideal for someone who is experienced in back-of-house operations, thrives in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining high standards of food quality and consistency. Key Responsibilities Assist in managing daily kitchen operations and ensuring smooth service flow Oversee and participate in food preparation, including chopping, portioning, and organizing ingredients Operate smokers and assist with smoking meats (brisket, ribs, chicken, etc.) according to company standards Monitor cook times, temperatures, and food quality to ensure consistency Able to adheare direction, training, and task delegation during shifts Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety standards at all times Assist with inventory checks, food prep planning, and ordering needs as directed Ensure all prep work is completed before service and stations are properly set up Help enforce kitchen procedures and maintain organization during busy periods Step in to support any kitchen station as needed (prep, line, smoker, dish area) Requirements Previous kitchen experience required; leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred Strong knowledge of smoking meats and BBQ-style cooking techniques Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Strong attention to detail and food consistency Ability to lead by example and support team members Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs What We Offer Competitive hourly pay (based on experience) Opportunity for growth into full Kitchen Manager role Supportive, team-oriented environment Hands-on role with real leadership responsibility At Miss Essie's BBQ, we take pride in our food, our process, and our people.
