Newport News, VA Job Details Part-time | Full-time From $14 an hour 17 hours ago Qualifications Recipe adherence Food preparation equipment operation Full Job Description Position Summary The Line Person supports our kitchen team by preparing and assembling high-quality ingredients for our fondue dining experience. Unlike a traditional kitchen, most items are prepared for guests to cook tableside, making accuracy, organization, and consistency far more important than cooking experience. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision, works well under time constraints, and thrives in a team-oriented environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare, portion, and plate ingredients according to Melting Pot standards and recipes Set up and maintain a clean, organized line for service Manage prep lists efficiently to ensure all items are ready for service Prioritize tasks during busy periods to support smooth kitchen flow Maintain proper food handling, storage, and sanitation standards Communicate effectively with kitchen teammates and management Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned Maintain attention to detail to ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency on every plate Qualifications & Skills No prior cooking or kitchen experience required (we will train the right person) Strong time management and prioritization skills High attention to detail and ability to follow systems and standards Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs Willingness to learn and take direction Why Work at The Melting Pot No traditional cooking line or fryers Structured systems and clear expectations Team-focused environment Opportunities for growth within the restaurant A unique dining concept centered around guest experience
REQUIREMENTS
Ability to understand and follow direction from others. Ability to read recipes and memorize and replicate food production procedures. Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment. Skill and coordination with kitchen utensils and equipment.
