Immediately Job Description Blue Mountain Union School is seeking a Head Cook for the 2026-2027 school year. Job Purpose The Head Cook will perform a variety of skilled tasks in food preparation, cooking and presentation. Assist the Food Service Director, as needed, with a concentration on high quality cooking utilizing standardized recipes. Provide coverage in a variety of food service positions and oversight of staff within the school's kitchen.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.- Supervise and assist with or perform the cooking, production, distribution, and service of components to support the school's breakfast and lunch programs.
- Oversee and perform routine food preparation (i.e. cutting up fruits and vegetables, making and wrapping sandwiches, and the like) and food service tasks.
- Monitor all food production methods for cost and time efficiency.
- Ensure that foods are maintained at proper temperatures for storing and serving.
- Operate point of sale computer system. Plan, supervise, and coordinate all daily cafeteria operations, including food preparation, cooking, service, cashier operations, and clean up.
- Monitor all foods for quality of taste, texture and appearance.
- Assist in the supervision of cafeteria workers. Assist with training new employees; plan and issue daily work assignments; monitor work in progress and check completed work; assist with problems.
- Supervise and assist with stocking and setting up work areas and cafeteria lines.
- Supervise and assist with or perform daily cleaning duties in the cafeteria including cleaning equipment and work areas, operating dishwasher and/or scrubbing pots and pans, cleaning up lines at end of meal shift, and putting away/disposing of leftovers.
- Assist in maintaining order in the cafeteria as needed, ensuring that students conduct themselves in accordance with established cafeteria rules. Report unusual problems to the Food Service Director.
- Complies with State Sanitation Guideline requirements stating that all employees shall keep clean and wear clean outer garments at all times while engaged in handling food, drink, utensils or equipment. The use of caps, hairnets, headbands, pins, or other hair restraints is required for all food handlers.
- Assist with other cafeteria duties as assigned, and act as backup to the Food Service Director. Desired Qualifications

- Food Service and/or Restaurant experience required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Direction and work assignments shall be received from the Food Service Director . Position Expectations 1. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. 2. Ability to utilize and promote the use of participatory management techniques. 3. Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as percentages, proportions, and interest. 4. Possesses physical and mental stamina commensurate with responsibilities of the position. 5. Possesses personal characteristics including, but not limited to, poise, perspective, integrity, flexibility, sound judgment, professionalism, and personal appearance for success as an administrator in the Orange East Supervisory Union. 6. Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with students, parents, school and administrative personnel, and representatives of community organizations or agencies. 7. Understands and is sensitive to the needs of various cultures and ethnic groups of the school and community, and the needs of students with limiting conditions. 8. Possesses a high degree of conflict management skill and ability to utilize effective problem solving strategies. Tools/Technology- Computer literacy required.

- Computer software, such as e-mail, calendar/scheduling, MS Office, and database user interface and query software Mental & Physical Demands 1.
- Work is normally performed in an industrial kitchen environment, with very limited exposure to extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes, and gases.
- Occasional outside duties may require exposure to weather conditions, such as snow and cold.
- Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of a normal kitchen environment including noises such as pots/pans, clanging, dishes, and kitchen equipment, etc.).
- No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of job duties.
