Job Description

Who We Are:
NatureBridge provides environmental science education experiences for more than 30,000 students and their teachers every year in the world's best classrooms: our National Parks. Our mission is to connect young people to the science and wonder of the natural world, igniting self-discovery, and inspiring stewardship of the planet. Summary The kitchen assistant is responsible for ensuring the front of the house is clean, stocked, and running smoothly for buffet or cafeteria style meal services for up to 200 people. The kitchen assistant will also wash dishes and perform prep work tasks such as washing and chopping fresh fruits and vegetables, and packaging or portioning ready to eat items and ingredients for the cooks. The host will perform regular cleaning tasks and seasonal deep cleaning and may be assigned light maintenance in the kitchen. During some programs kitchen assistants will have additional guest service tasks. This position is seasonal from approximately May through November. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Prepare, serve and clean up after meals in accordance with established procedures and checklists. Understand how to manage allergens and minimize the risk of cross-contamination in the kitchen. Ability to learn the menu, and basic information about NatureBridge campus and policy in order to provide outstanding guest service. Check in and put away food deliveries according to FIFO and keep storage areas organized. Perform daily cleaning such as sweeping, scrubbing the floor, and other general cleaning. Maintain a safe and clean working environment. Monitor and record cooking and food storage temperatures in accordance with U.S. public health standards. Perform physical tasks requiring lifting up to 50 pounds such as moving equipment, and supplies. Establish and maintain positive relationships with all staff, guests and Olympic National Park visitors and staff and provide outstanding guest service. Perform other duties as assigned.
Compensation:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Qualifications include:
Demonstrated ability to work independently and consistently to high standards. Demonstrated ability to work cheerfully as part of a team under sometimes stressful conditions. Must be willing and able to work weekends, evenings, and early mornings. Experience in food service is highly desirable. Experience in guest service facing roles is must. Expected to acquire a state food handler's card and current upon hire. All NatureBridge Employees are required to pass a background check in order to be eligible for employment.
