Back of House/Kitchen Support Sunrise play cafe Tacoma, WA Job Details Part-time From $19.50 an hour 17 hours ago Benefits Referral program Qualifications Food Handler Certification Full Job Description About the Role Back of House Support at Sunrise is the engine room of the operation — the people who keep food moving, equipment running, and the kitchen clean so the front of house can shine. This role is for someone who takes quiet pride in doing things right, works efficiently under pressure, and knows that the best kitchens run because everyone pulls their weight. Our menu is café-focused (pastries, light food, and espresso program-adjacent prep), and our kitchen is a relatively contained BOH environment. This is a solid entry point for anyone building a food service career, and a comfortable fit for experienced BOH workers who want a family-friendly, community-rooted workplace. Key Responsibilities Support food prep, assembly, and plating under the direction of the BOH Manager or shift lead Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen equipment, surfaces, and workspaces throughout the shift Wash, sanitize, and restock dishes, utensils, and service items on a continuous basis Assist with receiving and organizing supply and inventory deliveries; follow FIFO rotation protocol Monitor and record temperature logs for refrigerators, freezers, and hot-held items as required Prepare mise en place for opening and restocking for mid-shift transitions Support allergen separation protocols for any items flagged as allergy-sensitive Assist with BOH closing duties including deep cleaning, equipment shutdown, and waste disposal Communicate low stock or supply needs to the shift lead or BOH Manager Qualifications Previous kitchen or food service experience a plus — willing to train the right candidate Detail-oriented and reliable; takes food safety seriously Strong team player; able to work efficiently without constant direction Comfortable in a fast-moving, physically active kitchen environment Able to stand for full shifts; ability to lift up to 40 lbs as needed Washington State Compliance Washington State Food Handler's Card required (WAC 246-215-02120) Mandatory Reporter training per
