Job Description:
We are seeking responsible and attentive Lifeguards to help ensure a safe and enjoyable pool environment for our members and guests. In addition to maintaining pool safety, lifeguards will assist with basic front desk responsibilities such as checking in guests and helping members as they enter the pool area. Lifeguards at our club play an important role in the overall member experience and are expected to maintain a professional presence, proactively assist members, and take ownership of the pool environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintain constant surveillance of swimmers and pool areas to ensure the safety of all UCPA members and guests. Enforce all pool safety rules, policies, and procedures. Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and provide first aid, CPR, or other care until emergency medical services arrive. Conduct swim tests for members and guests to determine appropriate pool access. Check in guests and verify member access to the facility. Provide excellent customer service by assisting members and guests with questions and needs. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pool deck environment. Assist with pool opening and closing procedures, daily setup, and occasional pool events. Complete incident and accident reports and submit them to Aquatics management. Attend required pre-season orientation, in-service trainings, and staff meetings as scheduled by Aquatics leadership. Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and high standard of service at all times. Follow routine verbal and written instructions and adhere to all facility policies and procedures.
Requirements:
Must be at least 16 years of age . Current Lifeguard Certification , including CPR/AED and First Aid (or ability to obtain as required). Ability to pass a background check. Strong communication skills and a high level of responsibility and professionalism. Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods while supervising the pool area. Reliable and punctual, with the ability to work independently when needed. Ability to lift up to 35 lbs . Commitment to consistent attendance and reliability throughout the summer season.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or the ability to obtain certification upon hire. Previous lifeguarding experience preferred. Experience working with children and families in a recreational or aquatic environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact positively with teammates, members, and guests. Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and handle responsibilities with minimal supervision. Eagerness to learn and contribute to a safe, welcoming pool environment.
