$18.45 per hour Position Overview The Swimming Pool Attendant is responsible for maintaining an attractive, sanitary, orderly, and safe swimming pool environment for residents, patrons, and their guests during children's access hours. This position monitors pool activity, supports compliance with The Villages Swimming Pool Rules, ensures pool furniture and surrounding areas are clean and available for use, and reports safety concerns, rule violations, incidents, or maintenance needs to the appropriate supervisor or Public Safety personnel. Essential Functions Note:
Employee may have to undertake more tasks as needed or as directed, within the responsibilities of their role. Monitor swimming pool activity and observe patron and guest behavior to help maintain a safe and enjoyable pool environment. Walk the pool deck, shower area, furniture areas, and surrounding pool area at least once per hour to ensure cleanliness, safety, and sanitary conditions. Inspect pool furniture, pool deck, and related areas to ensure they are clean, attractive, safe, and suitable for use. Identify and report necessary repairs, safety hazards, damaged furniture, or maintenance concerns. Ensure The Villages Swimming Pool Rules are always followed. Professionally address and correct improper behavior or rule violations by pool users. Attempt to resolve disputes between patrons and/or guests in a calm, respectful, and timely manner. Immediately report unresolved disputes, escalated behavior, rule violations, safety concerns, or other incidents to the supervisor and/or Public Safety. Prepare and submit incident reports as required. Maintain a daily log of pool temperature and pool chemical readings at the beginning and end of each shift. Submit daily logs and incident reports to the supervisor. Help ensure the security of pool-related inventory, equipment, and supplies. Call 911 immediately in the event of a medical emergency. Demonstrate awareness of workplace safety practices and support organizational efforts to maintain a safe environment for staff, residents, and visitors. Work Experience Prior experience in recreation, pool operations, customer service, hospitality, security, or a related environment is preferred. Experience working with residents, guests, children, or the public in a service-focused environment is desirable. Prior experience enforcing rules, monitoring activity, resolving concerns, or documenting incidents is helpful. Skills Ability to work independently and deliver excellent performance with limited supervision. Strong maturity, dependability, and sound judgment. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to interact professionally, respectfully, and effectively with diverse groups of individuals. Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to interpret, explain, and enforce rules and regulations in a professional manner. Ability to remain calm, courteous, and professional when addressing rule violations, disputes, or emergency situations. Excellent command of the English language. Ability to always maintain a professional attitude and appearance. Ability to follow the established dress code for the position. Availability to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays. Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands and work environment described below are representative of those that may be required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Regular walking, standing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and moving throughout the pool area. Ability to move swiftly when responding to safety concerns, incidents, or emergencies. Significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling may be required. Excellent mobility, vision, and hearing are required to monitor pool activity and respond appropriately. Work is performed primarily in an outdoor pool environment and may involve exposure to sun, heat, weather conditions, wet surfaces, pool chemicals, and noise associated with pool activity. Must be able to remain alert and attentive during assigned shifts. Conditions of Employment Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check is required. Must maintain professional conduct and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented and stable work environment. Possession of a valid California driver's license is required and must be maintained throughout employment if driving on The Villages property. Must maintain a clear driving record if driving is required for the position. Must comply with The Villages Golf and Country Club policies, procedures, safety rules, and standards of conduct. Education High school diploma or equivalent is required. Adult CPR, First Aid, and AED certification and ability to administer first aid are required or must be completed upon hire.
