Work Environment & Physical Demands The Lead Lifeguard position involves working primarily within an indoor and occasionally outdoor aquatic facility, ensuring the safety of all pool users. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment, requiring constant interaction with members, staff, and volunteers. The position demands physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks in a variety of aquatic settings, including standing, walking, and participating in swim instruction from the water. The Lead Lifeguard physical demands include the ability to swim, remain in or near the water for extended periods, and assist in aquatic emergency situations. The Lead Swim Instructor must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds of equipment, maintain alertness, and supervise swimmers. This role may require responding to emergencies promptly and maintaining safety standards. The position also requires a commitment to a flexible work schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays, with responsibilities involving both hands-on instruction and administrative duties. The Lead Lifeguard must be able to balance the physical demands with the administrative tasks. Salary Description The Lead Lifeguard position offers a compensation range of $27.00- $32.
Requirements:
Qualifications Certain required qualifications may be obtained within 90 days of hire, depending on the position's needs and organizational requirements. High school diploma or equivalent 1+ year of lifeguard experience American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard certification American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) Certification American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer (CPRO) [best practice is to renew annually] American Red Cross First Aid certification American Red Cross Emergency Oxygen Administration certification YMCA Lifeguard Supervisor certification Strong knowledge of swimming and aquatics. Must be available to work 40 hours per week including: o 30 hours of frontline duties and 10 hours of administrative work. o Position does not exceed 40 hours per week. Must be available to work 5 consecutive days per week, including at least one weekend day and holidays. Flexibility to cover varying shift times as needed. Preferred Qualifications 1+ year of supervisory experience. Previous experience in competitive swimming. Bilingual in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin or other languages.
