Description Benefits Required Qualifications:

Must be enrolled in at least 6 credits. Must currently be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), or a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA. Transient and Dual Enrollment students are in eligible for student employment.

Federal Work Study (FWS) and/or Institutional Work Study (IWS) Hours per week: Up to 20 hours.

Key Responsibilities:

Must communicate effectively with patrons and other staff members. Provide emergency care when needed. Provide lifeguarding for the facility and its patrons. Perform cleanup and maintenance of Aquatic Center pool area, equipment, locker facilities and classroom. Assume responsibilities of opening & closing of Aquatic Center, restrooms, and locker facilities. Appear professional/wear lifeguard uniform.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Must be, or able to obtain through Daytona State College's Aquatic Center, a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR for the professional rescuer. Must be able to swim 300 yards and retrieve 10 lbs. object from minimum of 7 ft depth. Must possess good interpersonal and customer service skills. Must be interested in providing water safety. Be dependable and prompt in attendance. This position requires a criminal background screening.
