Lifeguard 2.4 2.4 out of 5 stars Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304 $20 an hour - Part-time Coral Ridge Yacht Club 7 reviews $20 an hour - Part-time Job Summary The Lifeguard plays an integral role in the safety of our valued Members and their guests while they are participating in water-related activities and takes the lead during emergency situations. Lifeguards are tasked with not only keeping the pool areas safe and clean, but also helping to ensure the Members and guests are enjoying their time in the pool areas by organizing and facilitating various water activities. Essential Functions Greet incoming and departing Members warmly with a genuine smile and eye contact. Supervise and observe swimmers at all times to ensure their safety. Implement all water safety policies and procedures. Administer basic first aid care to swimmers with minor injuries such as small cuts and bruises. Maintains amenities as needed. Enforce rules of conduct at the pool while maintaining a positive attitude and demeanor. Check first aid supplies and reports items needed. Organize and monitor pool games at all times; suggest pool-side games. Set out appropriate rescue equipment in the morning and returns equipment when pool closes (end of shift). Maintain all necessary records determined by the club. Attend bi-weekly meetings with the General Manager. Implements all pool and safety equipment. Performs required pool preopening duties. Informs General Manager about member or guest disruptions. Perform pool maintenance including checking chemicals, and cleaning of the pool as needed. Assist in organizing clinics and private swimming lessons for members as directed by department manager. Perform all other tasks and projects as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. CPR & First Aid Certification required. Water Safety/Instructor Certifications required. Previous lifeguarding experience preferred. Strong customer service skills with ability to resolve conflicts in a professional manner required. Friendly, outgoing personality with an accommodating disposition required. Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with Members, their children, Club staff and Management required. Ability to create and foster a positive teamwork environment required. Excellent verbal, written and social communication and listening skills required. Strong customer service skills with a customer service mindset required. Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations required. Creative and innovative thinking skills required. Ability to work a varying schedule based on the Clubs' needs required. This schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
