Swim School Instructor

Sarasota Sharks SwimAmerica™ Swim School Part-time Position Description Swim School Instructor Our Sarasota Sharks SwimAmerica™ Swim School Instructor and Coaches eagerly and enthusiastically conduct group and private swim lessons in a safe and fun teaching environment. We teach swimmers of all ages and abilities appropriate skills according to the Sarasota Sharks SwimAmerica™ Swim School curriculum, culture and philosophy. This part-time position has a variable schedule and reports to the Sarasota Sharks Site Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Conduct group and private swim lessons in a safe, supportive, positive and motivating learning environment. Instruct and teach students of all ages and abilities with appropriate skills according to the Sarasota Sharks SwimAmerica™ Swim School curriculum, culture and philosophy. Attend instructional swim staff meetings and training as required and directed. Maintain regular open communication with the Site Supervisor regarding issues related to the program. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality. Maintains effective, positive relationships with members, participants, and other staff. Check the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving and set up and clean-up of lesson equipment and changeover of pool configuration. Respond to emergencies, injuries, and illnesses as they arise. Other duties assigned by Site Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS

Must complete and pass the ASCA SwimAmerica™ Online Coaches Course within 30 days of hire (paid for by Sarasota Sharks SwimAmerica™ Swim School). Must have current CPR/AED and first-aid certifications, or ability to acquire within 30 days of hire. Lifeguard certification is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must maintain a professional appearance and adhere to uniform policy. Experience working with children is preferred. Must be 16 years of age or older (15 years with lifeguard certification). Previous swimming or instructional experience is highly preferred. Must have a strong interest and passion for teaching children and be in the water for a 3-4 hour shift. Must have transportation and be punctual and reliable.
