Job Description

The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), Park Maintenance and Recreation Services Division is looking for two (2) certified Pool Lifeguard s ! These full-time, permanent vacancies, one located in Waipahu and the other in Waikele , involve ensuring the safety of pool patrons by monitoring activities, enforcing rules, responding to emergencies, and maintaining pool operations and equipment. What You Will Do Maintain constant surveillance of the assigned pool area to identify hazards, prevent accidents, and respond immediately to emergencies. Perform water rescues and administer emergency care by providing First Aid and CPR as required. Enforce pool rules and safety regulations by monitoring patron behavior and reporting violations or incidents to supervisors. Ensure safe pool operations by monitoring water conditions and maintaining proper chemical and filtration levels when assigned. Operate and maintain pool and lifeguarding equipment to ensure all safety tools are functional and ready for use at all times. Complete required reports and facility duties including incident documentation, attendance logs, and opening and closing procedures. Special Working Conditions Work schedule varies depending on the vacancy. May conduct swimming rescues during emergency situations. May be exposed to environmental and adverse weather conditions, as well as to pool chemicals, acids, and gaseous chlorine. This role will serve as a Disaster Response Worker during declared emergencies. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.LICENSE REQUIREMENT
