Has knowledge of rules and answer any questions. Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations. Has the necessary skills to enforce pool guidelines with a kind member service approach, and lead staff by example and making assignment adjustments as necessary. Leads Summer Incentive programming including positive praise systems. Must run/assist in running monthly In-Service meetings for Lifeguarding staff.
Pay Rate:
$20.00 per hour. This is considered an entry level position.Schedule:
30 hours per week. 15 administrative, 15 lifeguarding Monday-Saturday availability requiredEssential Functions:
Maintain an on-deck presence in our 4th Level Indoor Pool; and Outdoor Pools during summer season Provides training for new lifeguards and mentorship for all lifeguards Adjust and communicate assignments to lifeguards as weather and attendance change needs Ensure that lifeguards are at assigned areas and performing to EBC standards, offer direction and guidance as needed. Communicate staff performance issues to Director of Aquatics Schedule and run in-service training for Aquatics staff Teach or Co-Teach American Red Cross Lifeguarding (shallow water) certification classes Give breaks to lifeguards throughout shifts Observing assigned pool and pool area Member service recovery for any issues that arise in or around pool areas Relay any member relations problems to supervisors or management Controlling all actions around pool Enforcing all posted pool guidelines Enforcing Children's Rules and age restrictions Keeping pool area and all pool storage areas clean and organized Picking up towels Moving Chairs Clean/ scrub pool, waterline to expansion joint Clean any part of the pool that is dirty throughout entire shift Vacuuming pools any time necessary Shut down pool and perform necessary cleanup whenever needed Arranging equipment and swim aids Assist Aerobics and Swim Instructors in setting up or facilitating classes including taking attendance Displays appropriate body language and greets members as they come to the pool Initiate and run employee incentive programs Suggests new programs and ideas for improvement Noticing small details around pool area that need attentionMarginal Functions:
Member relations Reassigning staff when pool attendance demands including sending guards home Communicate problems or potential problems to supervisors Maintaining open communication with lifeguards Referring employees to managers when appropriateOther Job Functions:
All other job duties as assigned by management. Requirements Maintains current Red Cross Lifeguarding. (Current America Heart Association and Ellis certifications will be accepted until Red Cross certifications can be obtained.) Acquire Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification within 30 days after hire.
