Mid-April through Mid-September Position Overview The Pool Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the club's pool facility, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and high-quality member experience. This position provides direct oversight of lifeguards and pool food & beverage service staff, coordinating daily operations, staffing, safety, and service standards throughout the pool season. Compensation $18.00 per hour Plus tips when working poolside food & beverage serving shifts Full-time seasonal hours throughout the pool season (mid-April to mid-September) Key Responsibilities Pool Operations & Safety Oversee daily pool operations to ensure compliance with all safety regulations, health codes, and club policies Enforce pool rules and maintain a safe environment for members and guests Monitor water quality and coordinate routine maintenance and chemical treatment with maintenance staff or vendors Document and report any incidents, injuries, or maintenance issues Staff Leadership & Scheduling Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise lifeguards and pool service staff Ensure all lifeguards maintain required certifications (CPR, AED, First Aid, Lifeguard) Conduct regular staff meetings and in-service safety training Maintain appropriate staffing levels based on pool usage, events, and weather Food & Beverage Oversight (Pool Area) Oversee poolside food and beverage service operations Ensure high service standards, cleanliness, and timely service for members Coordinate with clubhouse F&B leadership on menus, inventory, and service procedures Step in to assist with serving shifts as needed during peak times Member Experience Serve as the primary point of contact for member questions or concerns related to the pool Promote a friendly, professional, and family-oriented atmosphere Assist with planning and execution of pool events, themed days, and swim activities Administrative Duties Track staff hours and assist with payroll reporting Maintain records of attendance, incidents, and certifications Assist with seasonal opening and closing of the pool facility Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent Current Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications (or ability to obtain prior to start date) Strong leadership, communication, and customer-service skills Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Availability for weekends, holidays, and peak summer hours Preferred Previous experience managing a pool, aquatic facility, or seasonal recreation operation Food & beverage service experience, particularly in a club or hospitality environment Pool Operator or Aquatics Management certification Why Join Valparaiso Country Club Valparaiso Country Club offers a fun, fast-paced seasonal environment where you'll lead a team, interact with members and families, and play a key role in one of the club's most popular amenities.
