Job Description

Summer is calling! Grab your sunscreen and bug spray, and go to camp! Make this summer the one to remember—full of amazing experiences, friendships, and opportunities to make an impact on youth. Up for the challenge? Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts(GSEMA) offers invaluable skill-building, leadership, training, and enrichment opportunities that can't be found anywhere else. GSEMA has multiple day camp openings for a Program Counselor- Waterfront at Camp Wind-in-the-Pines (WIP) Day Camp located in Plymouth, MA. If you do not have current Red Cross Lifeguard Training but you have a willingness to become certified, we offer training - FOR FREE! So, whether you're an experienced lifeguard, camp counselor or just looking to gain new experiences, we welcome you to apply.
Hours and Work Environment Camp Dates:
June 28- August 15, 2026. The camp season includes 1 week of paid training.
Pay Rate:
Starting $16.00 per hour / 40-hour work week. What are some of the perks of working at camp? Paid pre-camp training and professional development. Dependent upon the role, opportunities to receive FREE certifications (lifeguarding, archery, First Aid/CPR, etc.). Networking opportunities and a chance to work with other staff from around the world. Free transportation from select bus stop locations.
A PROGRAM COUNSELOR - WATERFRONT
will: Under the direction of the Waterfront Director, assist in carrying out a structured program of waterfront activities. Teach basic skill development techniques and supervise free swim periods. Collaborate with other staff and campers to support age‑appropriate waterfront activities that align with Girl Scout program goals, progression, and camper interests and abilities. Supervise, mentor, and engage campers in a nurturing, positive environment while taking responsibility for the physical, emotional, and social health and safety of all campers. Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, inclusivity, cleanliness, punctuality, teamwork, active participation, and respect for people, property, facilities, and equipment. Commit to our mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Work with individuals of diverse backgrounds and ages, and accept the Girl Scout commitment to work with all without regard to age, race, ethnicity/culture, country of origin, religion, language, socio economic status, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, neurodiversity, ability or political affiliation. Is this you? Be at least 18 years of age by June 15, 2026. Either currently ORhave a willingness to become aRed Cross Trained Lifeguard (or equivalent) as well as Red Cross First Aid and CPR certified. Desire and ability to work with children outdoors. Ability to assist in teaching an activity. Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, self-control. Ability to work within the camp environment (work may be indoors or outdoors and may be hot, humid, rainy or cool weather.) Ability to effectively identify, analyze and solve practical problems and successfully manage a variety of variables and personalities; ability to adapt in a changing environment. Other Requirements This position will require successful completion of background checks and an active membership in the Girl Scout Movement. Additional Requirement - Massachusetts Lifeguard Uniform Regulation In accordance with 105 CMR 435.23 (Massachusetts Department of Public Health), all lifeguards while on duty must: Wear a bright red or bright orange bathing suit. Wear any outer garment (shirt or jacket) that is red or bright orange and marked with "GUARD" in 4‑inch lettering on the back. Wear an orange hat or sun helmet while on duty. Camp Wind in the Pines Day Camp in Plymouth Camp Wind-in-the-Pines offers campers entering kindergarten through 12th grade the life-changing experience of summer camp. Located in Plymouth, MA, the camp offers over 140 acres of woodland to explore and a spectacular waterfront. In addition to traditional camp activities such as songs, games and campfires, campers can participate in activities in arts and crafts, swimming, boating, science exploration, day trips, and more!
