Lifeguard & Swim Instructor - Summer Day Camp

FaySummer seeks applicants for Lifeguard and Swim Instructor to work during its 9-week summer camp program for children ages 3 to 12 years. The position will begin with staff training during the week of June 15, in preparation for camp opening on June 22. When camp is in session, the normal work schedule is 8:45 a.m.

m., Monday through Friday. The last day of camp of the season is August 21. Aquatics staff work as a team to create a safe, fun, well-organized, and educational program that includes swim lessons, free swim, and swim tests. Lifeguard duties will include assisting in pool maintenance responsibilities and reports to the Aquatics Director and to the Camp Director. This is an active position that requires constant interaction with campers and counselors. Fay School has two outdoor heated pools and we seek to have all campers access the pool each day. Time will be split between lifeguard duties and swim instruction as well as other pool duties as required. All Lifeguards and Swim Insteructors must be Lifeguard Certified and at least one year past graduating high school.

Responsibilities:

• Provide swim instruction to individuals of all ages and skill levels
• Ensure the safety of all participants in and around the pool area
• Teach proper swimming techniques and water safety skills
• Plan and organize swim lessons according to established curriculum
• Evaluate and track the progress of each swimmer, creating a swim report for each camper
• Maintain a clean and safe pool environment
• Assist with pool maintenance tasks as needed

Skills:

• Strong swimming ability and knowledge of various swim strokes
• Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguarding (or ability to be certified before starting)
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary
• Knowledge of pool maintenance procedures
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to provide exceptional guest service
