F/T Aquatics Coordinator Salary:

About the Job The YMCA Bethesda is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic Aquatics Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will assist the Aquatics Director and Assistant Aquatics Director in creating, implementing, and supervising aquatics activities, programs, and staff. Some of the responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assisting with all aspects of aquatic staffing, including recruiting, training, development, supervision, education, certifications, and team building Ensuring smooth operation of the Aquatics Department, including scheduling lifeguards, swim instructors, and pool operators Training lifeguards and assisting with quarterly in-house training sessions Overseeing daily, weekly, and seasonal maintenance of pools and equipment
Qualifications and Skills:
High school diploma or GED; must be 18 years or older Current Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certification Montgomery County Pool Operator's License required Minimum 1,500 hours of experience, including staff supervision YMCA lifeguard trainer certification within 6 months of hire CPR/AED and First Aid trainer certification within 6 months of hire Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Working Conditions:
Must be able to perform heavy lifting (equipment, people, and chemicals) Ability to lift and move objects weighing 40 pounds or more Ability to climb and use aquatic and cleaning equipment Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills required Must be physically able to meet YMCA lifeguarding prerequisites, including: Swim 300 yards Tread water for 2 minutes (legs only) Retrieve a training victim from the deep end Perform active and passive victim rescues with rescue tube Perform backboard rescue Ability to see and hear individuals in distress or requesting assistance
