Job Description

Purpose The primary responsibility of a lifeguard is to prevent drowning and injuries in the aquatic environment. Candidates must be able to ensure the safety of members and guests by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors. This person must be able to solve on-the-job issues by utilizing effective critical thinking and decision- making skills and process the ability to work with diverse populations. Lifeguards must be able to communicate and enforce pool rules and policies effectively. Minimum Qualifications Current American Red Cross Certified (or equivalent) Current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer Physical Demands Ability to react to emergency situations with quick movements, strenuous activity, and on occasion be able to assist or lift a person in distress of varying weights. Required to remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing or walking for various lengths of time. Duties and Responsibilities Recognize and respond to emergency situations by activating the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) Actively guard and scan the pool area, refraining from social interactions. Communicate and enforce all Point O' Woods pool rules in a personable and professional manner Dress and appearance are consistent with the club standard, including wearing a swimsuit and lifeguard t-shirt. Conduct safety checks and inspections. Complete and record chemical testing and report to Aquatic Director if out of defined ranges Record daily bather load numbers and complete cleaning assignments Attend and participate in the in-service training sessions Document any and all incidents or injuries Maintain a clean and tidy work environment Provide a welcoming and safe space for all members and guests Perform all other related duties as assigned. Wages dependent upon experience Possible lifeguard certification reimbursement (to first 6 applicants) $14.00 - $16.00 per hour End of season bonus for those that work through Labor day.
