Lifeguard 1 Lighthouse Lane, Saint Joseph, MI 49085 $15 an hour - Part-time $15 an hour - Part-time St. Joseph River Yacht Club Lifeguard Responsibilities and Duties (2019) Chain of Command and Communication Reports directly to the Head Lifeguard at the direction of the General Manager. Takes responsibility for any SJRYC property in his/her possession with the understanding that such property is owned by the Club and used by employees for pool duties only. Certifications All of the following must be up to date with a copy on file at SJRYC. Certifications must be presented annually to General Manager no later than the first pre-season training session. Lifeguarding certification CPR certification First Aid certification AED use Pre-Season Responsibilities and Duties Attend pre-season training session(s) to ensure proper preparation of duties and responsibilities. Attend mid-season meetings/training sessions as directed by the General Manager . Procure proper Lifeguarding attire to identify yourself Coordinate any major scheduling conflicts with the Head Lifeguard. Full Season Responsibilities and Duties (approximately mid-May through

weekends only in May-September) Understand and be able to carry out emergency procedures. Maintain a safe and comfortable atmosphere, supervised by certified personnel at all times. Communicate any problems or incidents with Head Lifeguard and/or General Manager . Actively communicate scheduling issues to the Head Lifeguard. Follow shift change procedures and shift duties as written in . Maintain a professional attitude, appearance, and attire at all times while on duty. Respectfully communicate with Club members, pool committee, Club staff and Club management. Actively monitor for weather emergencies and follow proper safety procedures. Complete swim team preparation duties as directed by the General Manager from time to time. Complete all pool opening and closing procedures. Ensure that pool is opened and closed on time each day. Enforce pool rules on a consistent basis. Escalating to Head Guard or General Manager after warnings or with repeat offenders. Ensure that pool chemicals are checked and recorded on a regular basis and maintained at appropriate levels. Ensure that pool temperature is checked and recorded on a regular basis. Immediately alert the General Manager if pool temperature is above 86 degrees. Ensure that pool and pool area are free from debris, discarded cups and other misc. items at all times. Ensure all trash cans in and around the pool area are emptied and bags replaced. Ensure that all trash cans in and around the pool area are cleaned weekly with bleach and water to eliminate odors. Ensure that the bathrooms are clean, safe and stocked at all times. Adhere to schedule for cleaning and maintenance (e.g. brushing and vacuuming pool, cleaning bathrooms, etc.) Actively manage breaks, shift change, pool testing and general conversations while ensuring guests in the pool are monitored at all times during active swim. Regularly check all equipment related to pool, ensuring its repair or replacement as needed. Maintain appropriate interactions and boundaries with Club members. Maintain SJRYC policies and procedures. Maintain a daily log of pool activities. Complete any other jobs or tasks as directed by the General Manager and Head Lifeguard from time to time. Post Season Responsibilities and Duties Ensure all pool equipment is properly stored, pool areas and bathrooms are cleaned, pool gate and exterior doors are locked, and all keys are turned into Head Lifeguard or General Manager .

Special Employment Conditions:

Must submit to a pre-employment criminal and civil records background check, successfully pass drug and alcohol test and submit to and successfully pass random drug and alcohol tests throughout employment. Must have Lifeguarding certification, CPR certificationFirst Aid/AED certification. Must comply with Employee Handbook.
