Seasonal Lifeguard

The Seasonal Lifeguard supports Kandiyohi County operations by providing safety supervision and emergency response at County Park beaches during the summer season. This position helps ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for park visitors through vigilant lifeguarding, first aid, and water safety practices. Supervise swimming and waterfront areas to ensure visitor safety. Enforce beach and water safety rules and regulations. Respond to emergencies, perform rescues, and administer first aid/CPR as needed. Assist with maintaining clean and safe beach facilities. Attend and participate in training sessions as required. Must be at least 18 years of age or a high school graduate. Must possess American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Certification, CPR/First Aid Certification, and Waterfront Certification (Kandiyohi County will pay for training and certification of prospective lifeguards). Willingness to work weekends and flexible summer hours. Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Work Schedule Seasonal summer position; specific hours and dates to be determined. Skills Lifeguarding, water rescue, and first aid/CPR skills. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Working independently and as part of a team. Maintaining a safe and organized waterfront environment. Physical Requirements Ability to swim and perform rescues in various water conditions. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods. Ability to work outdoors in summer weather conditions. Must be able to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Additional Information Kandiyohi County covers the cost of training and certification. Must pass a background check. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
