Recreation Division Pay:
$16.12 to $24.58 per hour
Location:
Tony Aguirre Community Center, 2050 W.
Pennway Schedule:
Monday-Friday; Saturday & Sunday, Hours will vary based on Center needs between 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m

Open Until Filled Responsibilities What you'll do Rescues swimmers who are tired or having difficulties. Applies artificial respiration or Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), if necessary. Administers first aid to cuts and other injuries suffered by swimmers. Conducts and monitors aquatics activities. Learns to perform tasks in accordance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Teaches or assists in teaching swimming and life saving techniques. Officiates at water contests and exhibitions. Opens, secures, and cleans program areas before and after program use. Prepares program areas for scheduled activities and events. Observes and enforces all rules and regulations of the facility. Educates and informs patrons of the rules and regulations of the facility. Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility. Responds quickly to all emergencies. Communicates with the lifeguard team and facility staff. Make routine chlorine tests of the swimming pool water. Attends monthly in-service training sessions. Completes all appropriate daily paperwork and trainings during shift. Inspects program areas and equipment and recommends maintenance and repair as needed. Issues, receives, and controls the use of recreational equipment and supplies. Monitors equipment inventories and recommends procurement of items as needed. Assists with special events as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRES MUST
be at least 16 years of age and have of a current lifeguard certificate or shallow water lifeguarding certificate as issued by the American Red Cross, Ellis, StarGuard, or the YMCA. For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained. Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical. If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
