Job Description

Part-time Lifeguard Required as soon as possible 1 x 20 hours (Monday, Thursday and Friday) The Governing Body are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated part-time Lifeguard to work every Monday, Thursday and Friday during term time. The successful applicant will be a key member of a dedicated team supporting the excellent teaching and learning within our school. The duties of the post will include (but not be limited to):
  • Supervise pool area to ensure the safety of all pool users, providing safety instructions
  • Prepare pool for the start of each session
  • Ensure that changing rooms and pool are kept clean and tidy between sessions
  • Assist in walking children to and from classrooms and pool
  • In the event that the pool is closed the Lifeguard will assist the Swimming Instructor in delivering an appropriate curriculum
  • Participate in planning and evaluation of swimming/learning activities with the Swimming Instructor
  • Assist in the development of pupil support plans (such as EHCP outcomes)
  • Assist with the supervision of pupils before school, break times, lunchtimes
  • Assist the Swimming Instructor to deliver a weekly after school swimming club Application forms and further details are attached and completed application forms should be returned to Durham Trinity School & Sports College, Dunholme Close, Aykley Heads, Durham, DH1 5WB.

Calculation of term time only plus 2 weeks pay Term time only plus 2 weeks pay is calculated on the basis of the following:
  • Number of 'teaching' weeks
  • 38 weeks; plus
  • Public (bank) holidays
  • 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
  • Ten additional days, inclusive of CPD
  • 10 days; plus
  • Individual leave entitlement

4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days) Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years' service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years' service will receive 32 days annual leave.
For example:
Calculation for employees with less than 5 years' service: 40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 47 weeks' pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments Calculation for employees with more than 5 years' service: 40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 48 weeks' pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.
