  • Responsibilities
  • Maintain constant surveillance of assigned beach and water areas to ensure patron safety and compliance with posted rules.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide rescue, first aid, and emergency care within the scope of training until advanced medical personnel arrive.
  • Identify and proactively address unsafe conditions; report hazards or concerns to supervisory staff.
  • Educate beach patrons on ocean conditions, swimming safety, and potential hazards.
  • Enforce beach and safety regulations consistently, professionally, and fairly.
  • Accurately complete incident reports, rescue reports, and other required documentation. Requirements
  • Successfully run 1 mile in under 8 minutes (tested as part of the hiring process).
  • Successfully swim 500 meters in under 10 minutes (tested as part of the hiring process).
  • Complete Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) training (approximately 60 hours), provided upon hire.
  • Complete USLA-approved open-water lifeguard training (approximately 48 hours), provided upon hire.
  • Pass a physical examination.
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Obtain and maintain current Lifeguard Training and/or Community First Aid Training and Professional Rescuer CPR certification within three (3) weeks of employment. Supervisory personnel must possess a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • All guards must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • All applicants must submit a Pre-Employment Fitness Testimony by April 1st. Qualifications
  • Knowledge of lifesaving techniques, rescue procedures, first aid, and CPR. Strong swimming ability and overall physical fitness.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Interacts respectfully and professionally with beach patrons; serves as a positive representative of the organization and community.
  • Attends all required meetings, training sessions, and in-service education.
  • Demonstrates the ability to react quickly, calmly, and effectively in emergency situations.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Exception applies to applicants under 18 currently enrolled in high school. Why Join Us?
