JOB SUMMARY
Supervision and safety summer camp attendees on Beach Days
PAY RATE
$16-$17/hr
SCHEDULE OF WORK HOURS
The Lifeguard is a seasonal employee. They are employed for approximately eleven weeks during the summer, ten weeks of the Summer Camp Program and one week for training and planning. Beach days are every Tuesday through the summer weeks, and a full 8 hr day. Upon request, a Lifeguard may also work as a Summer Camp Counselor on non-beach days, comprising a minimum 35 hours minimum and 45 hours maximum for the week.
MAJOR DUTIES
Patrols and watches over assigned beach to prevent accidents and dangerous practices. Rescues persons in distress and administers first aid as needed. Enforce policies, rules and regulation, laws and ordinances governing the conduct of persons using the City of Franklin beaches: warns users of potential hazards. Performs simple maintenance work on and around beaches. Prepares reports on rescues, accidents, first aid treatment, and attendance. Issues and administers the distribution of Beach Parking Permits Performs other related duties as required by the Parks and Recreation Department.
REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Certified in lifeguard training by an approved governing agency (training available) Must have all current certifications pertaining to first aid and CPR (training available)
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director and the Recreation Program Coordinators.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items; visual and auditory ability to monitor group safety
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with a high school diploma, experience with babysitting or other work with youth or volunteering would be helpful. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the job or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Pay:
$15.00 - $17.00 per hour
