Job Summary We are seeking energetic and responsible Summer Camp Lifeguard/Instructors to ensure a safe, enjoyable aquatic environment for our campers. In this vital role, you will oversee pool safety, provide swimming instruction, and deliver exceptional guest services. Your enthusiasm and vigilance will help create a positive summer experience for all participants while maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness. Responsibility Follow the YWCA approved swim curriculum to teach learn-to-swim lessons Have and maintain required certifications throughout camp season Enforce all waterfront rules and regulations and uses good judgment and experience to prevent accidents Actively guard the waterfront during all swimming and boating activities Never leave the waterfront unattended Actively engage in swim lessons and swimming - must enter water on a daily basis Follow assigned daily schedule of supervising, cleaning and setting up waterfront Never engages in extended conversations or other activities while guarding the waterfront Enforce waterfront rules and regulations (buddy system) of the YWCA as well as any camp specific regulations Signal infraction of waterfront rule through use of a whistle, which should be carried at all times Ensure the waterfront area is neat and clean prior to ending shift (pick up kick boards, pull buoys and ropes, check safety equipment, etc) Interact with all members and staff in a professional, courteous and friendly manner Open and close the waterfront according to the camp procedures Experience Previous lifeguard experience or certification preferred; must hold current CPR and First Aid certifications Water Safety Instructor certification - preferred Knowledge of pool maintenance, cleaning procedures, and chemical handling Comfortable performing heavy lifting related to pool equipment or supplies Experience in guest services or working with children is a plusPhysical Requirements:
