Job Description

Job Purpose The Lifeguard plays an important role in ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and welcoming pool environment for members and guests. This position is responsible for monitoring pool activity, enforcing safety rules, responding to emergencies, and supporting the overall cleanliness and organization of the aquatic area. Lifeguards help create a positive club experience by maintaining a professional presence and assisting members and guests with pool-related needs. Responsibilities Monitor pool areas to ensure the safety of all members and guests. Enforce pool rules and safety guidelines in a professional and courteous manner. Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies, including water rescues and first aid situations. Maintain constant vigilance while on duty and remain attentive to pool activity. Conduct routine checks of pool areas, equipment, and safety supplies. Assist with maintaining a clean and organized pool deck and surrounding areas. Provide friendly, helpful service to members and guests using the aquatic facilities. Report incidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to club leadership promptly. Participate in required safety drills, training, and staff meetings as needed. Qualifications Current Lifeguard certification required (American Red Cross or equivalent). Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required. Strong attention to safety and ability to remain alert for extended periods. Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Prior lifeguard or aquatic facility experience preferred but not required. Must meet minimum age requirements in accordance with state and local regulations. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily outdoors in pool and aquatic environments. Requires prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and active pool surveillance. Ability to swim, perform water rescues, and lift or assist individuals in emergency situations. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions including sun and heat. Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and peak club hours.
