Announcement number 26-12985533 Control number 872875700 This job is open to Help The public U.S. Citizens, Nionals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. Duties Help Pool and/or Werfront Lifeguard duties comprise 60% of incumbent's time and include but are not limited to : Performs all pool and/or werfront lifeguard responsibilities (e.g., supervising swimmers/prons and their activities, monitoring all nural wer activities, applying first aid, enforcing safety rules, reporting safety hazards to supervisor, performing wer rescues as necessary, etc.). Observes conditions of area assigned (e.g., possible hazards, wer/chemical conditions, wind, and weher, etc.) to ensure a safe environment, removing hazardous merials when necessary (e.g., floing debris, glass, etc.). Performs rescue work, promptly renders cardiopulmonary resuscition (CPR) or emergency first aid, and calls for medical assistance, as necessary. Conducts and documents pool chemical testing results. Checks chlorine and pH levels on a scheduled basis; notifies Certified Pool Operor or supervisor of chemical imbalances; adjusts chemicals as directed. Documents marine life, wer conditions, and weher conditions. Marks swim and surf areas with a flag system. (Werfront Only) Operes rescue vehicles (e.g., personal wercraft (PWC) rescue craft, prol bos, automobiles, etc.), as needed. (Werfront Only) General duties comprise 40% of incumbent's time and include but are not limited to : Administers aquic assessment testing and certificion in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Navy (DON) and CNIC policy. Provides introductory equipment orientions, as needed. Checks identificion cards for authorized prons and collects usage fees, if applicable. Serves as the primary liaison between the activity, security, medical departments, and Aquics Coordinor during emergency situions. Performs cleaning duties (e.g., basic janitorial services, vacuuming, skimming, etc.) and routine facility maintenance as assigned by Aquics Coordinor. Inspects stands, boards, ropes, safety gear, and condition of the dressing rooms, ensuring they are within the condition required by environmental health standards. Informs supervisor of deficiencies. Uses and maintains care of emergency equipment (e.g., specialized kits and bags, backboards, suction devices, splints, stretchers, monitoring equipment, etc.). Enforces applicable policies and procedures of Morale, Welfare, and Recreion (MWR) regarding the use of Aquic facilities and werfront operions. Prepares accident/incident reports during emergency situions. Notifies management of all emergencies immediely. Works with hazardous merials (e.g., cleaning agents, pool chemicals, etc.). Requirements Help Conditions of employment Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verificion check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment. Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigion. Must be able to work varied work schedules to include nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to work with hazardous and biohazardous merials (e.g., cleaning agents, pool chemicals, blood, etc.). Must be able to sisfactorily complete background investigion
  • Nional Agency Check with Written Inquires (NACI), upon hiring and renew every 5 years.
Must be able to complete an ocean run swim run event (1/4-mile run, 500-meter swim, 1/4-mile run). (Werfront Only) Must be able to complete a 500-meter swim in less than 10 minutes in a controlled environment. (Werfront Only) May be required to lift and carry swimmers varying in weight and size. Must be ready to respond to emergency situions all times. Qualificions Knowledge of pool and werfront safety rules. Knowledge of the beach environment, marine life, and beach and wer hazards. (Werfront Only) Knowledge of DoD, DON and CNIC policies and procedures governing aquic assessment testing and certificions. Knowledge of applicable policies and procedures of MWR regarding the use of Aquic facilities and werfront operions. Knowledge of cash handling procedures. Ability to appropriely identify hazards or hazardous situions and identify a pron's need for assistance immediely. Ability to tactfully, but forcefully, provide instruction on wer safety, facility rules, and regulions, and enforce them. Ability to conduct routine safety inspections of the facility and pool area to ensure they me et environmental health standards. Knowledge of and ability to conduct pool chemical testing, document the results, and adjust chemical imbalances, as directed. Skilled or proficient in surf lifesaving techniques and radio communicions to perform a safe and efficient rescue operion. Ability to exercise control over a large group of people. Ability to communice effectively both orally and in writing.
Educion Lifeguard Pool:
Must possess and maintain the following certificions:
  • Lifeguard Training Certificion in accordance with
CNICINST 1710.3.
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Providers.
  • First Aid to include Automed External Defibrillor Certificion; and
  • Blood Borne Phogens.
Lifeguard Werfront:
Must possess and maintain the following certificions:
  • Internional Life Saving Federion or Red Cross Werfront.
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Emergency Response through the American Red Cross or equivalent; and
  • Blood Borne Phogens. The following certificion is preferred, in addition to the required certificions above:
