Pool Supervision & Safety Maintain constant visual surveillance of the pool and deck areas. Enforce all pool rules, safety guidelines, and facility policies. Recognize and respond quickly to aquatic emergencies following established procedures. Perform water rescues, first aid, and CPR as required. 2. Customer & Member Service Greet members and guests courteously and professionally. Answer questions regarding pool hours, policies, swim lessons, and amenities. Provide a friendly and service-oriented presence on the pool deck. 3. Operational Duties Conduct routine safety checks of pool equipment, rescue gear, and facility conditions. Test and document water chemistry levels (as assigned). Assist with opening and closing procedures, including securing gates, organizing equipment, and setting up the deck. Maintain cleanliness of pool deck, furniture, and locker/restroom areas. 4. Compliance & Training Attend scheduled in-service training sessions and maintain certifications. Report incidents, maintenance issues, and safety concerns to supervisors promptly. Follow all club, departmental, and regulatory guidelines regarding aquatics safety. Qualifications Required Current Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross preferred). CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers. Strong swimming and rescue skills. Ability to remain alert and attentive for extended periods. Preferred Prior lifeguarding experience in a club, recreation, or community facility. Customer service or hospitality experience. Basic knowledge of pool operations and water-chemistry testing. Physical Requirements Ability to swim 300 yards continuously. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to quickly transition from seated or standing to water entry for rescues. Work Environment Outdoor pool facility with variable weather conditions. Weekend, holiday, and evening availability may be required depending on seasonal operations. The Swim Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all pool guests by supervising aquatic activities, enforcing facility rules, responding to emergencies, and providing excellent member service. This role supports a clean, safe, and welcoming pool environment consistent with club standards.
