Camp Fire Sandusky County in Fremont, OH is looking for one summer camp lifeguard to join our 12 person strong team. We are located on 2100 Baker Road Camp Fire Sandusky County. Our ideal candidate is attentive, ambitious, and reliable.

About This Position A Summer Lifeguard will spend time at the waterfront overseeing all water activities.Lifeguard:
In addition to supervising the safety of all waterfront activities, lifeguards plan and implement great programming and help campers push themselves to learn new skills and try new things. Primary Responsibilities Guide and care for 10 youth, ages 5-17 Implement Waterfront Programming including open swim, boating, and fishing Maintain safety and order at the waterfront Carry out established roles for supervising camper health and enforcing camp safety regulations Maintain good public relations with camper families and the Camp Fire SC community Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving in the group and with individual campers Organize and lead a variety of games and activities, ensuring all are included and part of the community Ensure the site, water coolers and trash bins are clean and sanitary Assist with paperwork regarding incident and accident reports Get to know your campers, play with them, and have fun! Act as a general counselor when necessaryKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to relate to one's peer group and to children Desire to work with youth outdoors, in an active environment Ability to respond appropriately to first-aid and waterfront safety situations Ability to teach/review waterfront standards with campers Ability to work with a variety of different groups, from many different backgrounds Always maintain Camp Fire Sandusky County standardsMinimum Qualifications:
16 years of age or older by the start of summer camp Current Lifeguard certification or ability to obtain one either before start date Experience leading waterfront activities or significant experience participating in waterfront activities Experience working with youth at another job, volunteering, or babysitting Possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers and program implementation The ability to adapt and stay positive Willingness to learn new skills and try new thingsDesired Availability:
Already lifeguard certified before June 1. Or attend training, through the YMCA Available to attend Camp Training beginning June 4. The last day of work is August 14 . Let us know if this schedule doesn't work for you- we may be able to accommodate a later start or earlier end date.
Hourly and Benefits:

Additional Requirements:
An understanding and knowledge of children, their behavior and development. Warm and friendly personality and the willingness to interact with the children. Must have or enroll in CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and Prevention of Infectious Diseases. Initial and periodic physical exams required. Meet ODJFS licensing qualifications in training and background check. Must submit to initial and/or periodic state and federal criminal checks. Must submit to initial and periodic drug and alcohol testing. Must have organizational skills and relate well to people. Ability to travel to attend job related training or courses. Must have own transportation available and current Ohio driver's license. Must be familiar with Google Suites. Individual must successfully pass Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII) and FBI background checks. Must be punctual and dependable; well groomed; courteous; confidential and demonstrate efficient work habits. Attention to detail is a must. The person must be able to follow verbal and written directions; relate well to children and adults; and demonstrate a positive attitude toward work. Individual must adhere to the Camp Fire Sandusky County Standards of Conduct, as outlined in the human Resource Policy Handbook. Current certification in CPR and/or First Aid or the ability to obtain this within a year. Communicable Diseases and Child Abuse Prevention Training. Other certifications a plus (Lifeguard, Wilderness First Aid, Project Wild, YPQA Certified). Desire to work with and inspire children. Must be self-motivated and highly organized.
