Non-Exempt, HourlyJOB PURPOSE
The Lifeguard will administer all functions related to guarding the pool and controlling all activity on the pool deck and locker rooms as needed. They will focus on the safety of participants and retention of members through great customer service. All staff are representatives of the philosophy, mission and goal of the YMCA and its youth development programs. Staff must strive to work cooperatively with fellow employees to achieve the goals and objectives of theYMCA. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(not a complete list): Continuously monitor the pool and surrounding areas to ensure the safety of all participants. Quickly and effectively respond to emergencies in accordance with YMCA policies and training. Perform rescues, CPR, First Aid, and oxygen administration as required. Enforce all pool rules and safety regulations consistently and professionally. Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized aquatic environment, including equipment and records. Complete incident reports and required documentation accurately and on time. Remain calm, alert, and professional in high-pressure or challenging situations. Provide courteous, inclusive, and respectful service to members, guests, and staff. Work cooperatively with team members to support daily operations and programs. Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures regarding the prevention of abuse. Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or misconduct immediately to the appropriate supervisory staff. Attend mandatory training on abuse prevention, including recognizing signs of abuse, and reporting requirements. Abide by the YMCA's four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect & Responsibility. Must be at least 16 years of age Ability to successfully demonstrate lifeguard rescue skills in accordance with YMCA or American Red Cross standards Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (will provide upon hire) Current CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen Certification (will provide upon hire) Physically capable of performing all essential lifeguard duties, including water rescuesPreferred:
