What You'll Do Keep a constant, focused watch over the pool—because safety never takes a break Prevent accidents by enforcing rules and educating swimmers in a positive way Respond confidently to emergencies, including rescues and first aid situations Use CPR, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen when needed Create a welcoming, fun, and safe environment for all members and guests Complete incident reports and maintain clear communication with your team Help with pool setup, cleanup, and daily operations Participate in hands-on trainings, drills, and skill-building sessions Why You'll Love This Job Make a real difference every single shift Build leadership, teamwork, and decision-making skills Stay active and engaged—not stuck behind a desk Gain valuable certifications and career experience Be part of a supportive, mission-driven team Opportunities to grow into Swim Instructor, Head Guard, or Aquatics Leadership roles What You Bring Minimum age: 16 (based on local requirements) Current (or willing to obtain): Lifeguard Certification CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer First Aid Strong awareness, quick thinking, and the ability to stay calm under pressure Positive attitude and commitment to safety Physical Requirements Ability to swim, perform rescues, and stay alert for long periods Ability to lift or assist individuals in distress Strong visual and auditory awareness Our Mission & Culture At the YMCA, we're more than a workplace—we're a community.
