At Pengu we believe in the importance of teaching kids about water safety, learning to love being in the water and helping them to become confident swimmers. Job Description Do you love to swim?! Pengu Swim School may be the place for you! Pengu Swim School is looking for active, energetic, and highly accountable people to fill our Life Guard position. The position is available in multiple locations including Houston-Central, Katy (Cinco Ranch), Sugar Land (Riverstone), and our newest location, Cypress (Towne Lake). The Life Guard position is responsible for maintaining the safety of children ages 4 month to 12 years during swim lessons. Responsibilities
- Monitors the swimming area for situations that could lead to accidents and watches for signs of distress
- Enforces all site rules and regulations
- Examines injures persons and administers first aid using training and medical supplies and equipment
- Contacts emergency personnel in case of a serious injury
- Rescues distressed persons using rescue technique and equipment
- Lifeguards on duty must remain on deck at all times
- Lifeguards must always wear their fanny pack with the appropriate gear as well as a whistle
- Facility maintenance and cleaning
- Performs other related duties ass assigned and requested
- Supervises and observes swimmers through scanning in designated zone to ensure safety during instruction and open swim times.
- General facility cleaning including cleaning of the pool deck, pool vacuuming, cleaning the dressing rooms, etc.
- Assists with maintaining pool quality and safety by testing chemicals and adding chemicals if instructed
- Attends all required staff meetings and trainings
- Communicates in an appropriate manner with all colleagues, management and customers
- Maintain up to date certification
Qualifications:
Minimum Experience:
0-1 years of experience lifeguarding or other relevant experience
Minimum Field of Expertise:
Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification, Red Cross First Aid for the Professional Rescuer certification andRed Cross Lifeguard Certification Skills:
- Ability to work independently and to positively interact with the public
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
- Sensitivity to when something is wrong or likely to go wrong
