BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Must have certifications in Lifeguarding, First Aid CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and Emergency Oxygen Administration. Must have comprehensive knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques, understanding of facility policies, procedures, and rules, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, colleagues, and the general public. Must be 16 years or older.
STATE REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Certifications in Lifeguarding, First Aid CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and Emergency Oxygen Administration
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work requires walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, sitting, lifting, and moving heavy items, and the physical strength and agility to remove or assist a distressed person in the swimming pool. Work involves exposure to cleaning chemicals and swimming pool chemicals including chlorine, and potential exposure to blood and body fluids at the scene of an injury or accident. Exposure to swimming pool chemicals may require the use of goggles, apron, rubber gloves, and facemasks. Must be able to swim 200 yards of front crawl (freestyle) or breaststroke without stopping, tread water for two (2) minutes without the use of hands, and be able to retrieve a diving brick from ten (10) feet of water.

Ensuring the safety and health of the patrons by preventing accidents, responding to emergencies, and maintaining close patron surveillance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK
Work collaboratively with all stakeholders in providing a World-Class Education. Rescues distressed persons, using rescue techniques and equipment. Recognizes and responds effectively to emergencies and administers first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, if necessary. Enforces all of the facility policies, rules, and regulations. Performs front desk duties including greeting patrons, checking membership or residency cards, answering telephones, answering questions, collecting fees, and selling memberships. Performs custodial duties throughout the day and at closing, as needed. Participates in in-service training, and exercises regularly to maintain an appropriate fitness level to be able to respond to a water emergency. Carries out additional duties as assigned by the head lifeguard, Aquatics Operations Coordinator, or Aquatics Manager. Complete other duties as assigned.
