Play Plaza Guide Sunrise play cafe Tacoma, WA Job Details Part-time From $17.50 an hour 17 hours ago Benefits Referral program Qualifications Food handling Food Handler Certification Full Job Description About the Role The Play Plaza Guide is the guardian of our play space — the person who makes sure every child is safe, every family feels confident with their kiddo to explore, and works to leave the play area cleaner than you found it. This role requires a calm, watchful presence and someone who genuinely enjoys the energy of young children at play. Our Play Plaza is designed for children ages 0-6. Parents remain on-site at all times — this is a supervised, parent-present environment, not a drop-off facility. Your job is to support that experience: keeping the space safe and tidy, helping the energy remain positive, and gently reminding friends when rules need reinforcing. Key Responsibilities Maintain active, attentive supervision of the Play Plaza throughout open play sessions Conduct routine cleaning and sanitization rotations on all play equipment and high-touch surfaces using the approved Force of Nature cleaning protocol Greet children and caregivers entering the play area; explain session policies and play rules Enforce age and capacity guidelines for the play structure in a warm, non-confrontational manner Respond to minor child injuries according to the Incident Response SOP; administer first aid as appropriate and document incidents Monitor session time limits and assist with transitions between session groups Restock and organize toys, soft play equipment, and materials throughout the shift Maintain clear emergency exits and pathways at all times Support the café team during slow play periods as needed Assist with birthday party room setup and play area breakdown for private events on weekends Qualifications Experience working with or caring for young children strongly preferred (childcare, tutoring, nannying, early education, camp counseling, etc.) Calm, patient, and observant — you can hold the room without raising your voice Reliable and conscientious about safety and hygiene standards Comfortable enforcing rules with parents and caregivers — politely, firmly, and without embarrassment; the entire team is here to support you and help reinforce rules and guidelines Physically active role; must be comfortable sitting on the floor, crouching, and moving quickly when needed First aid/CPR certification a strong plus; willingness to obtain required Washington State Compliance Washington State Food Handler's Card required (WAC 246-215-02120) Mandatory Reporter training required per
