Lifeguard

Under the direction of the Waterfront Director, and in accordance with the policies of the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee, a Lifeguard is responsible for the overall safety and supervision of the pool and lake. Lifeguards are responsible for politely enforcing policies; they will be aware of and promote the YMCA programs and philosophy.

Qualifications:

This position requires certification in nationally recognized Lifeguarding (ARC), current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Administering Emergency Oxygen, and Standard First Aid certifications. Individuals hired without ARC lifeguarding (but have an equivalent certification) must complete the ARC lifeguard review course within 90 days of employment. They must be able to pass a water skills test consisting of a 300-yard swim, 2 minutes of treading water, and perform all rescue skills at a competent level. Lifeguards must be friendly, consistent, and assertive. The incumbent will exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.
