Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team in providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents of our assisted living cottages. This full-time position is scheduled from Tuesday through Saturday, offering consistent hours to ensure the highest standards of sanitation and comfort. The ideal candidate will possess experience in environmental services or custodial work within healthcare or hospitality settings and demonstrate a commitment to quality and safety. Duties Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of resident cottages, common areas, hallways, and service spaces according to established protocols. Perform detailed cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, window washing, and disinfecting surfaces to promote a healthy environment. Follow OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines to ensure safety during cleaning procedures. Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, carpet cleaners, and other janitorial tools effectively and safely. Manage waste disposal in accordance with health regulations and environmental standards. Collaborate with staff to address specific cleaning needs or special requests promptly. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management when supplies need replenishment. Adhere strictly to sanitation standards suitable for healthcare environments, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Skills Proven experience in custodial or environmental services within healthcare or hospitality settings. Knowledge of OSHA safety standards related to cleaning and sanitation procedures. Skilled in various cleaning techniques including floor care, commercial cleaning, and environmental sanitation practices. Ability to operate janitorial equipment safely and efficiently. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain high standards of cleanliness consistently. Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors. Knowledge of aseptic techniques and basic sanitation/hygiene for environmental care Flexibility to adapt to varying workload and assignments Converse with residents, families, and co-workers in a professional and respectful manner that exhibits patience, caring and tact Take initiative to seek additional assignments when assigned workload is complete Prioritize and perform multiple assignments under time pressure and deadlines with accuracy while maintaining a positive disposition Must follow and be knowledgeable of employee's handbook and safety procedures established at Santa Teresita Work well independently as well as part of a team to accomplish deadlines and tasks requested by supervisor Must be able to work well with others under pressure Duties and Responsibilities Clean and sanitize all Resident rooms and care areas according to established schedule and regulatory guidelines of DHS, DSS and OSHA as they apply to Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly. Remove all waste, including infectious waste, from assigned area according to established schedule Perform general cleaning of public areas, offices, hallways, rest rooms, elevators, outside corridors and stairways, balconies, patios, laundry rooms, and any other assigned area throughout the campus Dusts, cleans, and polishes woodwork, furniture, fixtures, and equipment Vacuuming, sweeping and mopping of floors Cleaning of windows and glass Kitchen cleaning duties such as washing dishes and wiping tables and counters. Vacuum and clean rugs, drapes, resident curtains, vents, fans and other equipment on a rotating basis according to schedule created by person report to Perform deep cleaning and extra floor care in areas assigned and according to schedule created by person report to Assist with laundry as assigned. Includes collecting items to be washed, washing, drying, folding and returning items to Residents or appropriate area of service. When assigned will assist Facilities and Maintenance with minor maintenance concerns such as light bulb change, battery change or other as requested Assist with set-up for Special Events as assigned Uses cleaning materials and supplies, and prepares solutions according to standard formulas Restocks personal hygiene paper products and soap dispensers in various locations throughout the RCFE buildings Observe and report all potential hazards to Administrator; perform any immediate action required within ability to prevent hazard actuation Attend all meetings and in-services required by this position Follow all safety standards and procedures established by Santa Teresita Follow all regulations and procedures established in the employee's handbook Working Conditions Be on feet for extending periods of time either walking or standing in one place Intermittently walk 12 acre campus Is subject to regular interruptions in request for assistance Exposure to dust and chemicals that are potential irritants • Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, vendors and visitors Physical and Sensory Requirements Must be able to be on feet and move constantly throughout the workday Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met Must be able to bend, squat, crouch, and reach overhead Must be able to climb a ladder of at least 10 feet Must be able to push, pull, move, a minimum of 50 pounds a minimum distance of 100 feet Must be able to lift a minimum 25 pounds alone and a minimum of 50 pounds in partnered lifting to a minimum height of 5-7 feet
