Job Description

The Housekeeper manages housekeeping functions for the infant through toddler classrooms and maintains janitorial supplies, with care for the quality of children's food and surroundings. This is the primary Housekeeper for the Hedco Infant Toddler Center, and occasionally cares for children in infant and toddler classrooms for brief periods. Coordinates with teachers, and participates in the Support Services team, preparing food for the children, keeping the facility clean and tidy, and washing laundry. Communicates cleaning needs to Head Housekeeper.
Principle Accountabilities:
1. Serve and clean up food service for infants and toddlers, using hygienic and safe food handling procedures. 2. Clean the Hedco building spaces as assigned. 3. Launder and fold children's bedding and classroom items as needed. 4. Order housekeeping supplies Hedco from Brookdale. Arrange storage spaces to properly store food in Hedco and housekeeping supplies throughout the building. Assist Staff in storing program equipment and supplies. 5. Communicate feedback and requests for cleaning to Head Housekeeper.
Job Requirements:
Education § Food Handler Certification from the State of California § Must be able to read in English, follow directions, and measure accurately Experience One year of experience in housekeeping work. Typical Physical Demands:
§ Bend, kneel, stand on stepstool § Lift and carry children, equipment, groceries and supplies to 30 lbs. § Healthy and able to move easily through a large facility including stairs; physical exam required § Perform job using safe practices to protect self, children, and equipment Typical Mental Demands § Maintain focus to use equipment properly, mix cleaning solutions in the right amounts, move supplies, lift and carry safely. § Track usage of housekeeping supplies, ordering replacements in a timely way to ensure that they are available when needed through the Head Housekeeper. Check orders within a day of delivery to be sure the correct items have arrived, and arrange to have them stored appropriately.
