Position Summary:
As a Housekeeper at Bethel Lutheran Home, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for residents, staff, and visitors. Your duties will include cleaning resident rooms, common areas, and other facility spaces according to established protocols. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to providing a pleasant and hygienic environment for all.
Key Responsibilities:
Cleaning and Maintenance:
Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas daily, following established cleaning protocols. Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors and surfaces to ensure a spotless environment. Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, such as door handles, light switches, and handrails, to prevent the spread of infections. Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly. Launder linens, towels, and personal clothing as needed.
Safety and Compliance:
Use cleaning products and equipment safely and efficiently, following manufacturer instructions and facility policies. Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting any needs for repairs or replacements to the supervisor. Adhere to all safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and chemical handling procedures. Comply with infection control policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for residents and staff.
Resident Interaction:
Interact with residents in a friendly and respectful manner, responding promptly to their requests for housekeeping services. Respect residents' privacy and personal belongings, ensuring minimal disruption to their daily routines.
Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other housekeeping staff and facility team members to ensure a consistent and thorough cleaning schedule. Assist with special cleaning projects and seasonal deep cleaning as directed by the supervisor.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities and report any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate personnel. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on cleaning protocols and facility policies. Other Duties as Assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
Previous housekeeping or janitorial experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
