Job Description

Job Overview The historic Dew Drop Inn Hotel & Lounge is seeking a dependable Houseman / Maintenance & Public Area Attendant to support the daily operations and upkeep of our boutique hotel, pool, and cultural venue. This position plays a vital role in ensuring our property remains clean, safe, and guest-ready. The ideal candidate is proactive, reliable, and comfortable assisting with public area cleaning, housekeeping support, groundskeeping, and basic maintenance tasks. No two days are exactly the same, and team members should be willing to jump in wherever needed to support hotel operations. Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Property Upkeep Replace light bulbs in guest hallways and public areas Tighten door hardware, fixtures, and complete minor repairs Address basic plumbing issues such as slow drains or loose faucets Reset breakers or GFCI outlets when necessary Check HVAC filters and thermostats in public spaces Perform basic repairs and report larger maintenance needs to management Assist with power washing sidewalks, courtyards, pool decks, and exterior areas as needed Public Area Cleaning Maintain lobby, hallways, stairwells, and entrances Clean and restock public restrooms Sweep, clean, and maintain courtyard and pool areas Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the property Wipe down high-touch surfaces such as railings, doors, tables, and furniture Ensure guest-facing spaces remain clean, organized, and presentable at all times Housekeeping Support Assist housekeeping with stripping rooms and removing used linens Deliver clean linens, towels, and housekeeping supplies to guest rooms Help move laundry between departments when needed Assist with room inspections and guest room readiness Support housekeeping during high occupancy periods and special events Groundskeeping & Outdoor Maintenance Maintain cleanliness of exterior walkways, entrances, and parking areas Perform light lawn and landscape upkeep, including watering, weeding, and debris removal Keep outdoor furniture clean and properly arranged Monitor pool and courtyard areas for cleanliness and guest readiness Property Inspections & Preventative Maintenance Conduct routine property walks during each shift Identify maintenance issues before they impact guests Monitor lighting, safety hazards, and cleanliness standards Ensure emergency exits remain clear and accessible Report any concerns immediately to management Event & Property Support Assist with basic setup and breakdown of public and event spaces Help maintain outdoor and event areas before, during, and after events Support property readiness during periods of higher guest traffic or special programming Qualifications Previous hotel houseman, maintenance, janitorial, facilities, or housekeeping experience preferred Basic knowledge of tools and minor repair work Ability to work independently and stay organized Strong attention to detail Dependable and punctual Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the shift Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Schedule Part-time position approximately 20 hours per week, with additional hours available during peak seasons, special events, and busy periods.
Typical schedule may include:

Pay:
$16.00 - $20.00 per hour
